April 2008

I’m sure you all know about her drunken blunder on AI today. Oh man. All I can say is: LOL.

NOTE: Title should be read with HappySlip’s dad’s tone. LOL.

So. Today we shot a very exciting collaboration between the two cooking shows here on my blog. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing, really. Cam and I have talked a few times before about actually doing some cooking for a change, but we never got around to doing it. However, over lunch at Flaming Wings last Wednesday, a plan was finally conceived: we would bake something, anything, on Friday (which is today).

So last night I confirmed if we were still on for today, and I could tell Cam was a bit surprised that the plan was actually pushing through, but she gamely agreed because when we plan in advance, rarely do things ever really happen. Most of the time when we eat out, it was planned on the day itself, LOL. We’re really all for spontaneity, no? So we met up at McDonald’s Mindanao Ave. because she’d probably get lost if she commuted here alone, and also because we needed to buy some ingredients. After a late breakfast at McDo and some grocery shopping at Landmark Supermarket, we headed back to my house and promptly started the most disastrous afternoon we ever spent together. Haha. I won’t get into the details yet because the photos need some processing, but let me tell you some of the things you will see in the episode:

  • Messy butter
  • Dishwashing
  • Baby Bear laughing at us amateurs
  • Lower meniscus
  • Burnt pancakes
  • Abnormal-looking cookies
  • aaand… Me actually taking part in the cooking!

And as a bonus, we throw in a bit of drama as these things also made it to the episode:

  • Sabotage
  • Deception
  • Reformat!

And because of the drama, we have decided to air a marathon of the still-unaired episodes of Cooking with Mama Yogi Bear before the actual crossover episode. You’ll know why when we get to that one, but for now, I’ll be posting Mama Yogi Bear episodes over the next couple of days. :P

As you may have noticed, I haven’t written for a week. For that, I have these two guys to blame:

I think this is now my new favorite show. After a couple of days with this hilarious duo, I spent the next few staying up as late early as 4am with this guy and his colleagues mostly because I have a crush on Dr. Chase LOL. Oh, and Wilson too even though he’s more than twice my age. Robert Sean Leonard doesn’t look a day older than his Dead Poet’s Society self (except for the weight gain LOL).

And now I’ve moved on to everyone’s guilty pleasure. (I heart Dan!)

After that, it’s season 4 of that other medical drama. Man, haven’t watched this in a while.

And after that, I’m gonna buy some more dvds. Yep, I’m never getting off the couch now (or bed, depending on where I’m watching since sometimes I play the dvds here on Berting). *sigh* I LOVE summer vacation. :))

The Good: I got the job!

The Bad: It starts in June. So, still no summer job for me. Boo. :( (The pay is pretty good though, I just hope I can handle tutoring on top of acads and other stuff.)

So. I went bargain shopping yesterday with my mom. Major shopping spree, since everything was so cheap! For around a thousand bucks, I had so much na (although apparently, even though my sister opted not to join us, we ended up buying more for her). Including this funky bag:

It almost matched my hot pink nails pa, LOL:

Haha. It’s so blindingly pink and orange, and I bet everyone in school will get headaches after seeing it, but I love it! Haha. So in June, if you see a girl carrying around this huge pink-and-orange striped bag, that’s definitely me, LOL.

Haha. Of all the weird internet searches that pointed to this blog in the results, this is probably one of the weirdest. (Along with the at least bi-monthly search for Rob Roque. Seriously. His name comes up probably three times more often as my own name. Harrumph.)

I googled “Filipino call boy for rent” though to know where in my blog I ever mentioned it, and I found out that it was in my Ataul for Rent entry pala. Most of which I didn’t write, because it was just a summary I copied from somewhere in the internet, so I didn’t remember it. Haha, at least my blog doesn’t look like a call boy directory naman or something pala. :P

…of what to blog, and I realized that I haven’t really made a sem-/year-ender post yet. Haha, a little late for that, seeing as today’s the start of the summer semester already so while others are busy with a new chapter of their college lives, I’m here still thinking about the previous one. But oh well. I’m not one of those who had to go to school today naman, and besides, I’d hate to pass up an opportunity to pass on my knowledge of what subjects to take to those students like me who google potential GEs and profs first before hitting that ‘Enlist’ button, LOL.

But before we go to that, let me just write a bit about the past year and pretend that evaluating subjects and teachers wasn’t the sole purpose of this entry, LOL.

LOL. Feeling. Haha. Well, I just got off the phone after scheduling an appointment with this tutorial center somewhere in the Commonwealth area, and I’m gonna go for an interview on Monday! Hohoho. So for this summer, I guess I’m gonna be the teacher, not the student. I’m a bit scared about the demo part, pero my mom’s officemate’s daughter (who told my mom about the job) said I’d probably just be asked to tutor some random student who happens to be present at the time of my interview, which makes me feel a tiny bit less apprehensive. Haha. Wish me luck. :)

Hello, two whole months of nothingness. Oh, how I’ve waited for you.

Yes, I gave up my one-in-a-million slot in Math54 (ok, OA, one in a couple hundred lang naman) for this. Why? Because I needed to catch my breath after my very exciting and exhausting first year in college, and seeing as nothingness started only two days ago instead of almost two weeks ago when I submitted my last requirement for the semester, I have just started that catching my breath part. I want some peace and quiet, some me time, and I just can’t have that when everyday I have 3 1/4 hours of Math to worry about. I need some time to think, as in just think and try to make sense of my life. Soul searching ba. Haha. More importantly, I haven’t had enough quiet time with Him recently, and with the ILC recently concluded, I feel even more inspired to just spend time with Him away from all my other worries. Ok, I can practically hear Ben now saying I can have some quality time with Him naman even with all the acads, much like he said I can worship naman without the huge crowd, pero basta. I just need this, for reasons I really can’t quite explain fully. (Also, there is one other reason for choosing nothingness, pero that’s personal na. But close friends can ask me if you want.)

Oh, who am I kidding? Katamad lang talaga magsummer class! :P (Haha joke lang, syempre seryoso yung mga sinabi ko sa last paragraph noh.)

After taking the last couple of days reacquainting myself with the peaceful boredom of having no classes, here’s what I plan to do for the rest of the summer:

  • Write. Sobrang uhaw na ako for this. By the end of the summer, I’ll probably have a whole cd’s worth of essays, thoughts, stories, and who knows, I might even get back into poetry. (Most of this would probably be seen by me only. Part of the me time and thinking process. Whatever’s not for-my-eyes-only would probably be on this blog.)
  • Read. Haven’t read a good book in a while. Ay wait. Bought The Boy Who Loved Anne Frank pala last week. But that was the first book I’d read that wasn’t for school in… I can’t even remember how long. I bought a couple of books pa when I accompanied my cousin to Gateway, and my sister bought another one yesterday, so plenty of reading material for the summer! I plan to buy more soon pa. I’m so excited! (Haha. What clothes/shoes/accessories shopping is to most girls, book shopping is for me.)
  • Blog. Haha. Plenty more Cooking Show episodes waiting to be posted, and also one funny thing we shot at Cam’s house. Plus so much more.
  • Play the piano. I miss playing. Been trying to learn Canon for a while now, pero half pa lang ako. I wanna finish it this summer na!
  • Sleep. Part of the ‘me time’ hahaha.
  • Catch up with Cam who I haven’t talked to (as in talagang talked) in a while.
  • Upload photos on Multiply. Haha. Hundreds of MBs rotting both sa PC and here kay Berting.
  • Pray. Kasi naman. Pati In His Steps hindi ko nanaman nababasa regularly. Anubayan. Kelangang kelangan ko talaga to this summer.
  • At ang pinaka-exciting sa lahat… Whatever. Kahit ano. Watch movies, go bowling with Kat, go to the huge National Bookstore beside Gateway to get more books… No need to plan ahead, just live in the moment do whatever I want (within limits syempre haha).

Hohoho. Summer, here I come!

Believe it or not, I have some more stuff to write about the ILC even after that novel of an entry I wrote yesterday. This time I think I’ll post in bullets so I don’t have to think in chronological order.

  • I totally forgot to write this yesterday, but I just remember that Father JBoy celebrated the Sunday Mass (among other priests)! I was pleasantly surprised to see him, because he’s great. :)
  • LOL @ the Rap/Bernie loveteam! It was born out of boredom, and Rap probably wondered the whole time why he was stuck with such weirdos, but Bernie was so kilig naman (kunyari?) and it provided us with entertainment the whole weekend, so yay. :P
  • The moment we got to the venue on Friday night and I heard the music, the first thing I thought was how much I missed YFC, and how I couldn’t wait to worship again.
  • We saw so many other Pisay people! Aside from the Ateneo people, we also saw JBL (aka Henson Jr. for ‘07, haha. Didn’t know na YFC sya, di naman kami close. He was the first Pisay person we saw, even before we got off the car.), Kervin, Givette (didn’t talk to her though, we just saw her pass by with her looooooooooooong hair), and of course, Jef (who’s super binata na!)! :)
  • Saw Kuya Otep too, briefly. :)
  • There were these three people who came to us while we were having dinner nung second night, asking if they could get to know us. It turns out, they were from WestB too! Haha. So they were like, “Ay, akala ko taga-Visayas! Sige, magka-sector naman pala tayo, makikita pa namin kayo sa sector activities.” Hahaha. Apprently nakita na rin pala nila Imang sa BK yung mga taong yun, pero I guess hindi sila na-recognize.
  • For some reason, the pace for the whole event was pretty relaxed. Siguro kasi we stayed until early afternoon sa lodgings, hehe, so hindi masyadong haggard. So much time to play cards! And yes, Nico, you’re right. Unbeatable talaga me. :))
  • Didn’t use my rubber shoes at all. Sana pala hindi ko na lang dinala so pack even lighter pa me. I didn’t have a pillow and a blanket nga kaya pala ang gaan at ang konti ng dala ko eh, and Imang was like, “Papel pa tong laman ng bag mo???” because it was super light. I even checked my bag before I left home because it was indeed suspiciously light. But I guess I’ve just mastered the art of packing light. :)) Ok lang naman, because God generously provided me with stuff to use. Nung first night, I had a pillow (which came with the room already), and I just used my towel as blanket since it wasn’t that cold naman inside the room. The next night, syempre we were in the boys’ pavilion already. I didn’t need a sleeping bag to sleep on anymore because we slept on the mattress, so I had a warm comforter pa in the form of my sleeping bag! Haha.
  • Posted my ILC album on multiply na! Very few pics since Nico has a super awesome camera anyway. :))
