June 2008

I’m actually about to go out and go bowling with my blockmates, but I just randomly thought of updating, LOL. Especially since tomorrow I’ll be throwing away my social life as I start working! Yay!

Anyways. There was a question on Game K N B today that made me so excited. “Saang bayan sa Metro Manila matatagpuan ang paaralan na tinatawag na Pisay?” Yes, I’m a dork, I nearly had a heart attack just because my high school happened to be mentioned on TV, LOL. I just love when that happens. My sister says that question gets asked a lot on the show, but this is the first time I’ve seen it so yeah, you can imagine my excitement hahaha. The first contestant to answer got it wrong. PASAY daw! My sister and I simultaneously yelled, “HOY!” Hahahaha. As if everybody knows what the hell Pisay is, eh noh.

Anyways. I’ll be late for bowling na, so I gotta go. I’ll attempt to post a cooking show episode when I get back, before I study for the first time all weekend.

Of all the days for classes to be suspended, it just had to be a Monday. Tenkyu naman no, it doesn’t really matter to me either way. RAWR.

But pleasepleaseplease let there be no classes in UP on Wednesday!

And somebody needs to confirm or deny this rumor ASAP so I’d know if I need to panic already about that darned ArtStud graded recitation, LOL.

Because Joey said so. :P Because reading the Manila Foodistas blog makes me want to try all the stuff they mention over there. (My wallet is not as excited about the idea of eating at Gumbo or flying to China, but whatever, LOL.)

Yeah, this is my vote in the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in 2008 thinger. Um, I hope I did this right, haha. Haven’t gotten a chance to look at the other nominees so this is a slightly biased vote (LOL) but whatever. :P Maybe I will later and add other blogs to my list, but for now, this is my vote. :D

I was reading my old sent messages in Yahoo! Mail (yes, I have nothing better to do, LOL), and I came across my articles for our Econ magazine in 4th year. And I found this article. I’d completely forgotten that I wrote this, but even now, more than a year later, I still agree with every word I wrote, so I decided to post it here. Yes, I’m narcissistic enough to actually quote myself on my blog.

Please bear in mind that this was written for Econ, so Econ terms were used in an attempt to be witty. It’s funnier if you remember the technical, econ definitions of the terms like efficiency vs effectivity, alienation, and the invisible hand. Kung di kayo natawa/natuwa, sorry na lang. :P (Also, it’s so funny how I still write the exact same way now. I don’t know how to describe it. Basta, it’s so me. Haha.)

Ten Things I Learned In Pisay

  1. The supply of homework doesn’t care about the (lack of) demand for it. Whether or not you want it to, it will come, and when it does, it will mean another long night for you. So instead of fighting it (you’ll lose anyway), just take it when it comes and do it. Come perio, you’ll thank your teachers for it. (more…)

I love that my best friend and I have conversations at midnight and at the wee hours of the morning as if it weren’t such an ungodly hour during which no sane human being texts another with “Wait. Imma shower lang.” Dude. Who showers at midnight???

But well, I’m not really surprised at the direction our very random conversation has taken, as weird text messages like this are a daily occurence for us. Yes, we do this kind of conversation every night. Only in this friendship would you see a person text at 12-freaking-30 in the morning with “Whatchadoin? I’m bored.” And only in this friendship would you expect the other person (that would be me) to actually reply about the David Archuleta video she’s currently watching. (Haha ok I wasn’t actually doing that at that moment but I can’t remember what exactly I was doing, and trust me, I’m just as likely to have been doing exactly that, LOL.) And then you’d never believe where the rest of the conversation went. Not gonna elaborate anymore, because I’m suddenly starting to realize how seriously messed up we both are. No wonder we’re so meant to be.

The first two days of school have been disgustingly exhausting and exhaustingly disgusting. (Yeah, that was me trying and failing to be witty, LOL)

Yesterday my bangs were permanently plastered on my forehead with sweat as I walked around UP, ran from Physics71 to Math54, sat in that oven we call our Math54 classroom, and waited for our no-show Anthro10 prof. Ugh. How happy I was when the day ended.

Today, though three out of my four classes were in airconditioned rooms, in between classes all I could think of was the unbearable heat! Like, OMG. When I stepped out of my Math54 classroom it felt like freedom. I had almost forgotten the feel of the wind in my face after spending an hour and 15 minutes in a room that felt more like a sauna than an actual classroom. And then I went out of the building and was instantly attacked by the outside heat. Cam and I actually trooped to McDo Philcoa because we were desperate for aircon. Ok we know there are airconditioned places in UP, but meh. We just had to get out there. And I got McFlurry so yay me.

BUT. When CS21 came… IT RAINED. IT POURED. As my blockmates joked, it was a whole summer’s worth of rain released in just a single afternoon. It was raining so hard we couldn’t leave the building. (Ok, that’s probably because three out of the seven of us didn’t have umbrellas, but whatever.) Which was fine because I love bonding with my blockmates because HALLER, this is the first time since last October that I felt like I had a block again (yeah I’m still bitter about being in another CS12 class LOL. Not that I’m complaining about the load and my grade in that class ha. No sir.). Eventually when the rain seemed to let up a little bit, we left.. only to park ourselves in the waiting shed right across the street. I dunno, we got sidetracked or something. Completely forgot what our plan was after that first step. Haha. We stayed there for like 15 minutes or something, attempting to recover from the wetness brought about by that 2-minute walk from the entrance of the CS building to the waiting shed. Now I was not just drenched in sweat (yes my bangs were still plastered on my forehead LOL), I was also drenched in the rain. WHAT FUN.

Ugh. Stupid weather. Made the last couple of days even more miserable than they already were. As if I needed more problems aside from Math54 and Physics71 and our very many readings for ArtStud1. RAWR.

In other news… CS21 is gonna be so fun, I can already tell. ONE, I have my blockmates with me, so even if the subject turns out to be total crap at least I had fun with them. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I MISSED THIS BLOCK OMG. That half hour or so of waiting at the stairs for the rain to stop was so much looooooove! TWO, the prof seems a lot of fun. He’s really random and funny and stuff and tells random stories about geeky stuff like how porn is not allowed to be made on Blu-Ray. Hohoho. And we’re gonna take apart CPUs and the geek in me just got so excited about that. Evidently, there is at least part of me that is right for this course. :)

In other, other news… MY HAIR ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE I HAD SOMETHING DONE TO IT. The left side has a life of its own and adamantly insists on retaining some sort of wave and on pointing far away to the side, but other than that my hair is manageable and I love the cut and OH I JUST LOVE MY HAIR RIGHT NOW YAY.

Ok. End random. LOL.

I would blog about the first day of classes… IF ONLY I DIDN’T HAVE THIS AWFUL MATH HOMEWORK THAT JUST WON’T. GET. DONE! Rarr. First day back and I hate it already. Boo you Math54!

Confession #1: I bought a chocolate bar but it melted while I was on the way home… so I waited until I was safely in my room before I devoured it. Haha. Wala nang pa-ref-ref pa! Been craving for chocolate for the last few days, so yeah. I wanted it really badly. And after licking chocolate off my fingers… I’m happy now. :D

Confession #2: I’m excited to start my job! My boss is really nice, and the job itself seems like fun. Unfortunately, I don’t start until either next week, or next month.

My dad is like 100x more excited than me though and keeps reading me tutoring tips and stuff. I appreciate it, but please make him shut up now, kthnx.

Confession #3: I’m itching to go to confession. Wala lang. It’s been a while eh. Anyone know Father Mon’s confession schedule? Haha. Talagang gusto ko sa kanya.

Besides attend part of the mass at Pink Sisters (haha, predictably, we were late eh LOL. Akala ko nga wala na kaming aabutan eh.), take pictures, and purchase massive amounts of food (whether to be eaten there or to be brought home), this below is the only thing I did in Tagaytay. What a boring trip. We ran out of things to do after lunch. Haha.

Anyways. The point here is… I have learned a new skill today: HOW TO KNOT A CHERRY STALK USING MY TONGUE. (Put under cut because I got a feeling not everybody will appreciate seeing my tongue here, haha.)
