Hello. I’m Eeeek. More formally known as Kristine Ray M. Alcantara, but more often called Rayray, Rairai, Raerae (NOT Reyrey), or their single-syllable variations. I usually introduce myself as Kristine to new people though because I can’t be bothered to explain the origin/spelling/pronounciation of my nickname to strangers. However I usually ask people to call me by my nickname after meeting them a couple of times.
I’m 17. I’m Catholic and proud to be. I fell in love with Him once upon a Valentine’s Day and haven’t fallen out of it since. I have no intention to.
I’m a Computer Science major at the University of the Philippines. Before that I was a Pisay scholar, and before that I was a Clairean. I’m currently working towards a career in programming while writing on the side, and I’m happy where I am, but secretly I dream of becoming a writer while programming on the side.
I’ve been blogging since I can’t even remember when but I abandoned all my other blogs before the one I started on May 25, 2004. I never expected to last three years there, but I did. You probably know me from that old blog, but I’ve moved here now.
Why move?
Moving was a difficult process, not just because I had a hard time finding the perfect username (because someone already took the one that I wanted), but because I get so ridiculously attached to everything, including my old blog. It took months before I finally decided to move (if I had decided earlier I would’ve gotten the username I wanted!), but here I am. Why? Nothing, I guess I was just ready.
Why onethousandone?
The short answer? Because eeeek wasn’t available when I signed up. Ok, of course I also put some thought into this username. Or rather, Cam put some thought of it, since she was actually the one who came up with onethousandone after WordPress rejected my request for 1001 (apparently usernames made up purely of numbers aren’t allowed). What’s the significance of this number? I moved here when I reached 1000 entries. Though that’s certainly not my 1000th blog entry ever, it’s the 1000th on my first and only blog that lasted. Moving here was really just a move but still a sort of continuation of my old blog, so 1001 is very fitting. I was so distressed when I couldn’t have even that that I didn’t think to write it in words. It took my best friend to tell me that such an idea was a possibility, LOL. Obviously I can be so stupid sometimes.
Plus, a number as a username sounds really cool. :P
What about tabulas?
I dunno. I’ve invested too much of myself on that blog to completely leave it, so I guess I will come back there from time to time.
